About SJHA homeschool bowling short league


SJHA's bowling short league meets on Thursdays at 10:30 AM at Bowelero in Turnersville, NJ.


The cost is $7.50 per person per week, this includes your shoe rental and 3 games of bowling.

In addition to the weekly fee, we are asking for a one time $30 payment per bowler:

  • This money will be used as prize money for our winners and to fund a pizza party on the last day
  • This payment will be made to Ray or Amanda Arnold via VENMO, CASHAPP, or APPLEPAY (in efforts to avoid transaction fees).
  • Your preferred payment option will be provided to us upon registration and we will send a payment request to you.
  • We expect payment to be made within 48 hours of the request being sent, failure to do so can result in losing your child's spot. Our goal is to be diligent and sent payment reuqests shortly after recieving your registration. 


Ages: 10 and up; responsible teens ages 13+ can be dropped off.
If choosing drop-off option please contact us to discuss the rules & parameters. 
Skills/experience: The ability to bowl without bumpers is a must.
Supplies: shoe rental included, balls included, but feel free to bring your own!
Membership: none required, short league is open to all

The dates for SPRING 2026 are: 2/12, 2/19, 2/26, 3/5, 3/12, 3/19, 3/26, 4/2, 4/9, 4/16, 4/23, 4/30

Important Information

Bowling league & Drop-in Bowling participant behavioral expectations:

In addtion to that, our league has other expectations as well:

  • SJHA’s bowling league will not tolerate any rude or aggressive behavior towards Bowlero’s staff. Inappropriate interactions with staff members at Bowlero will result in possible expulsion for our bowling league.
     
  • We are expected to clean up after ourselves. No water bottles, wrappers, or other trash should be left behind. If you order food, we ask that you put any cups/plates/utensils up on the bar area before you leave for the day.
     
  • Parent's should asssit with the flow and help keep bowlers on task.

Bowling Leagues Attendence Policy

Participation in the SJHA competitive bowling is a commitment that is expected to be honored.Attendance during week one is mandatory. Week one is when bowler averages are established, it is a requirement for all bowlers to be present.

Pre bowling and Post Bowling: While attendance is curcial for this team sport, we are human and sometimes we absolutely can not make it. We have put something in place so teammates do not miss out on scoring due to absences.

Pre bowling is coming to the bowling alley on a day prior to the Thursday which you will be absent. When you come you will bowl 3 games, record the scores on the sheet provided by the front desk and submit those scores to the front desk. They will enter those scores in the computer to be added to your teams scores on the day you are not there.

Post bowling is the same as pre bowling except you will come bowl your games on a different day following the Thursday you were not in attendance. Post bowling must be completed no later than the Wednesday at 3PM before the next Thursday bowling session.

How to pre or post bowl:

  1. ***Call ahead and ensure lane availability*** mornings and early afternoons work best as evenings tend to have leagues
  2. Arrive at Bowlero, Turnersville
  3. Explain that you are here to post-bowl and provide your bowlers name and league information (SJHA Homeschool league)
  4. Pay the $7.50 to the alley
  5. Bowl all three games 

Bowling league safety & procedures

Safety

The most important for safety are these two things.

1 lane Courtesy and Food and Drinks must be kept off the floors

1 lane courtesy: wait off of the lane until the bowlers to your right and left are done before you step up to take your turn. This avoids walking into others on the lane, bowling balls accidentally hitting the person next to you and more.

Food and Drinks: When food and drinks find shoe soles it becomes an injury hazard. It’s causes shoes to stick on the lanes which can cause severe injury. Please be very cautious with food and drinks to ensure it doesn’t get on the floor. The link below explains some more about bowling safety.

Bowlers are expected to bowl foward. Backwards bowling and trick shots are not allowed. 

Only the person who's active turn it is should be on the approach. Everyone else needs to remain in behind the approach near the chairs. 

Each bowler must bowl for themselves. No bowlers can take another bowler's turn.

What is a handicap?

This is a calculation that is used to level the playing field for all bowlers. The goal should be to come in each week and bowl your average. For example, if your avg is 50, as long as you avg 50 or more that day you have a good opportunity beat your opponent if your opponent does not meet their avg on that day. Strike pot and strike pot consent!

Weekly Strike Pot Entry
$1 for 1 ticket
$2 for 3 tickets
$3 for 5 tickets

How this works:
Purchased tickets will be mixed up in a bucket. The person who has the winning ticket will have the opportunity to roll a strike or spare in the 7th frame of game 3. If the winner rolls a strike, they win the money. If they don’t get a strike but get the spare, they win the money. If they don’t get a strike or a spare, the money will roll over into the next week’s drawing. The money will continue to compound until there is a winner. Then the pot will restart. Parent must approve their child’s participation.
